Painting Nude

I just finished my second attempt at painting on canvas. I usually paint on paper but every once in a while something screams out to be taken all the way =D

My first real painting was a small golden nude made for the BFs Birthday last summer. I was quite pleased with it and learned a lot from the process (should try to drum up a pic of it some day).

As I am currently on a black & white streak the (lack of) color selection came natural.

(outlined and building shadows)

(FINISHED - although the paint has yet to dry)

My new art project is off to a pretty good start :o)

Happy (soon) Sunday everyone!

The Cuz, rough

A few rough shots of my cousin whom continuously stepped out of the light. I am not entirely pleased with the cast shadows but oh well. Maybe some day I can get him to stay still for more than five minutes =D (riiiiiight...)

I'll catch up on comments tomorrow. For now I am off to bed.

Sweet dreams everyone.

Project 365 - Day 45
Allan

I have a tendency to "adopt" close friends and think of them as surrogate siblings.

My extended family is large and wide spread, geographically as well as personality wise: from Cowgirls and Goofballs, to MasterBrains and Humanitarians, to Angels and Chocolate Goddesses =D

The common denominator is the goodness and strength in these people's hearts.

Meet my friend and "brother" Allan:

Happy Sunday, everyone - and special congratulations to Holly, and to Steve (-slj) on their respective engagements. Blessings and hugs to you.

Project 365 - Day 44
Icicles

Today I went for a (very careful) two hour walk around the lake. The trail was quite slippery, and I wondered why runners would subject themselves to such conditions; it was an injury waiting to happen.

I set out around four and did not make it back until after dark.

These were my favorite sights.

Happy Valentine's Weekend!

Project 365 backlog - day36 and 42
Winter Wonderland

I am getting a little tired of snow. Although pretty it is also cold and slippery, which are not on my list of favorite things. And to think, I used to compete at figure skating! =D Ah, the irony.

I am enjoying the view from my house, as usual. Feel entirely blessed to have so much natural beauty before me but must admit I look forward to spring when the red squirrels come out to play, and the days are longer. Currently the sun is gone around 5 PM.

The following images were captured around my neighborhood within a week.

Finally, you non-texture believers may as well cover your eyes because once again I have been having way too much fun fiddling around with one of my self-portraits.

This one has a tribal feel to the background

And this one makes me green with... Youth =D

I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's weekend.

If you are fortunate to have a special someone in your life, be sure to let him/her know how much they mean to you.

Project 365 - day 39
Artsy

I haven't been shooting all that much lately - mostly candid shots of my amazingly fantastic goofball friends. Which although great is not exactly what I want to post here (translation: no one needs to see three gorgeous women pulling faces).

Instead I have spent a considerable amount of time fiddling with PhotoShop, teaching myself new techniques.

So, how do you feel about these? Which is your favorite?

Have a great week!

Project 365 backlog - day 30
New Trio

While traveling I fell in love with a new scent (new to me, anyway).

The following was shot with my fresh upgraded SLR, a new (refurbished) Tamron 90mm Macro, and Flower Bomb edt by Victor & Rolf.

I am hoping for sunshine tomorrow so I can take my camera for a walk.

Happy weekend everyone!

Project 365 Backlog - day 27
In Transit

Still playing catch up...

This was shot with a brand new Canon SD880 wide angle point-and-shoot while in transit at London Heathrow Airport.

We just wanted to go home and Zzzzzzzzzzsleep...

More to follow in a few. Promise =D

Project 365 backlog - day 024/365
Eskimo Kisses and a Cat

As previously explained I did not have much time to shoot while traveling. I opted to spend time with friends and loved ones, to enjoy one of my favorite cities unframed.

Saturday Cherie and the amazingly magical D Master Duke (for real, ha ha) came from out of state to spend the day. We had originally planned for a trip to Central Park Zoo but forgot to take into account how early they close. Instead we goofed around FAO Schwartz (gotta love a place where the uniformed doorman tells you to "Come in and play!") I wonder if we made them think twice about THAT greeting =D

The lighting in there is horrible for photography and I refused to shoot with flash sooo... this is the only pic I actually like.

Earlier that day Cherie, D, and I came across the Mobile Adoption Program - an animal shelter tour bus! Born curious I simply HAD to visit and immediately lost my heart to this 7-year-old cutie:

I am telling you, had I lived in the US Lucky The Cat would have been mine right then and there! She is absolutely adorable, a real Lady. Please please pleeeeease someone adopt her!!! It breaks my heart to know she does not have a proper home.

Here is a pic of D and Lucky (the kid is BOUNCY and hard to capture on camera... But I love him)

For further information on how to adopt Lucky (or make a donation like I did) please check out the Animal Haven website.
